All right, update on me Elder Alvey! MTC is over. We stayed at the mission home for one night. It was a really nice house. Missionaries were departing and coming so there were about 20 of us. We had a little testimony meeting then the announcement of our areas and companions. If you have a map of my mission I'm in the Brockett ward. There are actually north and south missionaries, and I'm in the south. It is definately super green here and squirrels are everywhere. It is way different from Mesa and Las Vegas. It is so diverse. One second we are tracting through million dollar home neighborhoods and then we are in apartments where you feel like you could get shot! But it is great and I love it. Me and elder Kunzler were whitewashed or whatever they call it when they put 2 new elders in the area. It been hard trying to figure the area out. We weren't left with much to work with so we're really focused on finding people. That is my favorite thing to do is meet new people. My companion elder Kunzler is from cedar something. A really small one horse town in northern Utah by the border of Idaho. I like him. He's a great guy all around. It's funny cause he said he's always had his accent, but in the morning he talks normal and throughout the day he develops his southern thing. It is very funny when I think about it. I've already eaten at three members homes, and it's been nothing gross or weird. So something I've really been dying to tell people is about Pres. That's what we call him. We live with him. He is about 86 or something. His wife died 16 years ago. He has been housing missionaries for 30 plus years. He is way too kind. I feel like he has a little Houston in him. The jokes he makes and his comments. He calls it his fussin and cussin. ha And he does that exact thing. He built a little sun room with windows that he plays cards, watches tv, and sits in all day mostly. He won't let us buy anything. He just says, you need anything write it here and make sure the pen goes back in the right spot! haha
He even asks us if we have a dinner appointment and if we don't he says be there by six! He fed all six of us missionaries, north, south, and vietnies(?) Which reminds me, I met this sister from there. She was in my travel group and we sat together on the plane. She was 24 and a convert of 2 years. She is so short she doesn't even come up to my shoulders. So small, but the biggest personality I've ever seen in a person. I have a picture with her. I'll send it.
The weather actually hasn't been half bad. We've had some rain. Nothing too serious. I'm in a car so I don't really have to worry about it so much though. We do walk a lot. We are suppose to get a lot of rain this weekend. Another up from living with Pres. Smyd is that he gives us weather updates.
All is well in Atlanta, Georgia. Definately already starting to love the people. Some of the ward families are so diverse, but amazing like Sister Johnson. We ate there. She's a recent convert with, I think, 6 kids all from different dads. They are so roudy and always want to climb and fight me. They are mostly boys and I can tell they look up to me so I know if I don't do anything here one thing I can do is be an example to them.
That's all off the top of my head. I have to email the President, do my laundry and clean a little.
Still waiting for my first written letter! ha I'm kidding. I got plenty of dear elders so that's good.
I hope everyone is doing well!
Miss ya all!
